Venture Outdoors with the Dillards

Kids are our future, our next generation. The more we can educate them about firearms, the safer our children will be. The more we can do to educate them about the out of doors and our wildlife, the better chance we have of having wildlife in the future. Children are curious, the more they learn in a "hands on" class, the more they retain which in turn increase their safety. About 1980, long before Venture Outdoors came to be, we began working with the kids at the Elks Aidmore Children's Home in Conyers, Ga. We helped to create their backpacking/hiking program. Working with youth ages 7 - 17, that had low or no self esteem and many had no respect for themselves or others. We introduced them to an environment where you had to depend on yourself as well as work together as a group/team. They also learned to respect the out of doors, Mother Nature and wildlife, while learning to respect themselves. During the first year of our firearms certifications, a father brought his 10-year-old daughter to us for instruction. Sinse that time, we have taught many children firearms safety at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center where we still teach today. We have also worked with the Boy Scouts as well as having taught many personal (parent/child) classes. The better educated our children are the safer our children are. A 10-year-old little girl told me "Guns are fun, Toys are fun, But Guns are not toys." This is so true and we pass this thought on in all of our kid classes. Keep our next generation safe, through education. When it comes to fishing, there is nothing like watching a kid catch his/her first fish. It is exciting. Teaching them how to do this is even better. We help them to learn basic fishing, but can also teach them how to fish with a fly rod. In our classes they learn knots, casting, hooking and what to do after the catch. Let us help you to: TEACH THEM THE RIGHT WAY, THE FUN WAY, THE SAFE WAY. |
